PROJECT OVERVIEW
R.A.M is a multi-media project that centers the hostile integration of artificial intelligence and innately human processes; specifically grief.
Told through an immersive VR video, as well as a print-based zine that contains content about the aggressive practices being implemented into social media, the internet, and even the most mundane aspects of our lives.
Visually inspired by contemporary aesthetics such as “Cyber-Punk”, “Vaporwave”, and “ASCII” imagery and treatment.
Along with other visual components, this project birthed the creation of a custom font; “SIG-NULL”. This font is a modular mono-space font designed to present in a “techy” way, while also being turned into sigils as displayed in the logo.
MEDIUM 2: R.A.M TESTAMENT
The second medium is a theory book; a testament to the reality we are currently living in, and the ways in which technology and artificial intelligence are being used in harmful ways.
Visually inspired by corrupted files, with missing textures and exposed code, and also being supported by a custom typeface.
MEDIUM 3: R.A.M SIMULATION
The third medium is an immersive simulation; a virtual reality experience that presents the facade tech companies are creating to sell and market their programs and models to vulnerable people. It is up to the viewer to decypher the true nature of these companies, and understand the grav
MEDIUM 1: SIG-NULL Typeface
The first medium is a custom typeface. “SIG-NULL” is a modular monospace font designed to present the techy and esoteric concept of digital afterlives. Being visually inspired by ancient and medieval sigils, this font can be modularized into custom sigils and symbols that represent the intention imbued into the type.
For the initial exhibition, 100 custom USB flash drives were screen-printed with the R.A.M logo, and preloaded with the SIG-NULL typeface as well as directions on how to properly use it.
You can download the font here.
The font was utilized for all display font purposes for the project, and even used in a poster series of ouija boards crafted with the intention of showcasing the font, and speaking to the contemplative nature of the project.
